Katherine Tong-Bi Donaldson

My sister (Pat Donaldson) and her husband (Bill Donaldson) have provided these photographs of their daughter, Katherine Tong-Bi Donaldson. My brother Alex has his own web page now...

Photo Gallery

No web site devoted to a little kid would be complete without a photo gallery! The thumbnails below are linked to full sized photographs.

The original photograph of Katie provided by the Chinese orphanage. (75K jpeg)
The first picture of Pat and Katie together. This picture was taken moments after Pat was given (GRABBED!) Katie for the first time. (72K jpeg)
The new family: Bill, Pat, and Katie. (86K jpeg)
The "April 96" adoption group. As further proof that this is a small world, note that the fellow on the extreme right of the 2nd row is Fred Green, a fellow theoretical computer scientist. (86K jpeg)
The end of a long day... (71K jpeg)
Katie on a Chinese mat. (94K jpeg)
Katie loves to play in the water. Here she is, looking into the shower. (59K jpeg)
Like most kids, Katie likes to watch TV. This shot is unusual in that it shows Katie watching Sesame Street. She now prefers Barney. (63K jpeg)
Katie with Sara Evans, her cousin and godmother. Bill Donaldson was Sara's godfather. (55K jpeg)

Paybacks, or Revenge of the Aunts and Uncles

Bill and Pat are (in)famous for giving their nieces and nephews interesting gifts. Here, interesting should be understood to mean loud, disgusting, or otherwise delightful for children while being annoying to their parents.

As they say, he who laughs last...

Katie's maternal cousins (Christi and Andy Kurtz) found a talking Barney doll for Katie. This truly repellant creation not only spews forth insipid tripe, it will continue to do so for up to five minutes after being activated!

In the meantime, Katie's paternal Aunt found a duck pull-toy, which makes a sound so cute as to be a cancer on the brain. An inspired choice! (Unfortunately, the limited dynamic range of the sample here only hints the capabilities of the actual toy.)
